Stage Five Provides Telecom Cost Support for Youth Preparing for Independent Living

May 20, 2025

- To mark the launch of Pindirect 5G Speed 20GB plan in the KRW 10,000 range, Stage Five to offer one year of free mobile service for eligible youth transitioning out of care

- Applications open on a first-come, first-served basis through the end of July; details available on JaripjeongboON

Stage Five (CEO Sangwon Seo) announced that it will provide mobile service support for youth transitioning out of care. This group refers to young people up to the age of 24 who are preparing for independent living after leaving institutional care settings such as child welfare facilities, group homes, or foster care. While the Korean government provides settlement grants and monthly independence allowances through local governments to help these youth establish themselves in society, such support is often insufficient for long-term stability and future preparation, highlighting the need for broader social attention.

To commemorate the launch of the Pindirect 5G Speed plan, Stage Five will provide the Speed 20GB plan free of charge for 12 months to eligible youth transitioning out of care.

The Pindirect Speed plan lineup consists of three options: - Speed 10GB: KRW 9,900 per month - Speed 20GB: KRW 18,700 per month - Speed 30GB: KRW 29,700 per month

Considering that the average monthly mobile data usage among smartphone users in Korea is approximately 20GB, the Speed 20GB plan is expected to be the most in-demand. The plan includes 20GB of data, 200 minutes of voice calls, and 100 SMS messages per month for KRW 18,700. Under this program, Stage Five will fully subsidize this plan for 12 months for selected participants. Applications for the mobile service support program will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to 50 applicants, through the end of July. Detailed application information is available via the support program listings on the JaripjeongboON website.

Sangwon Seo, CEO of Stage Five, commented, “Telecom access is a fundamental right that should be available to everyone, and an inclusive starting line in the digital environment directly translates into future competitiveness. We are pleased to offer even a small form of support to young people preparing for independent living, helping ease the burden of mobile costs so they can stay connected to a wider world.”He added, “As a digital telecom innovation company, Stage Five will continue to actively explore ways to create social value alongside technological progress.”
